Early this year, we drilled a new borehole on the campus of Ebeneezer Secondary School, which is located in the Kaliro District, 150 km north of the capitol city Kampala. The Head Teacher Maganda Patrick and his teachers provide instruction for 201 students studying at O Level. Their hope is to improve student performance so that A Level curriculum can be initiated, however, due to lack of clean water, the students were unable to study consistently. This school plays an important role in the community where there is a very high rate of illiteracy. Students boarding at this school had severe intestinal disorders from drinking water from an open shallow well. Sometimes, from the contaminated water, students contracted typhoid, and were sent home to recover, interrupting their studies. Today, students at Ebeneezer Secondary School have a new borehole on their campus (see the picture) and are no longer sick from drinking filthy water. Many thanks to Rotary International and all of you for donating the funds for this new borehole!!
